What did you want to be when you grew up?

“I wanted to do many things "when I grew up" but the main ones included a musician and teacher which I have fulfilled since my other business is running a piano and voice studio. I also really wanted to be an astronaut since I think that space is so beautiful and fascinating. The other thing I was drawn to is the world of fashion & design and creating things that are visually appealing, so now that I am a photographer, I love designing sets, curating unique props, and finding beautiful garments to style my clients in.”

What 2020 has taught you about your business, or being an entrepreneur in general?

“I have a 1 & 1/2-year-old fireball of a daughter so 2020 has been anything but slow and boring for me. Motherhood has taught me that as much as I love being a mom, I also need to do things that fuel me. I was surprised at how much I was craving that creative outlet again and once I got beyond the guilt that it meant I was not going to be spending 24/7 with Kaiya anymore, I realized that I would be a better version of myself and also be able to show up as a better mom and wife as well. I didn't really worry too much about 2020 being the '"wrong time" to dive deep into my businesses since we as human beings need the arts for our social, emotional, and mental health; so I predicted that teaching music and capturing beautiful memories with loved ones will become more than ever during times like these... and I was right since I am busier than ever with bookings and students!”

Anything you want to say to “Women In Business”?

“Don't try to be a one-woman show that does it all; Hire professionals such as an accountant!! @jamie_boyack!! a marketing and branding expert, web designer, etc. These people are an investment in your business! They went to school to excel in their areas of expertise and not only will you get much better results than DIYing it, but you will also be able to focus more of your time working on creating or delivering your products or services.”
