Meet Nicole Hilhorst. Mother. Wedding Planner. Florist. Workshop Teacher. And owner of Details Planning and Event Design @DetailsBC in Victoria, British Columbia.
Nicole recently launched ‘The Detailed Planner’, a 10-week course for aspiring wedding planners, where she is teaching new-comers all the tips and tricks she has learned over her 15 years of experience in the industry! And Nicole was also a florist before she started wedding planning, so her expertise is vast.
The powerful team Nicole has built, brings to life some of the most beautiful designs and dream weddings on Vancouver Island! It’s always inspiring for me, to work with entrepreneurs full of creative ideas and chasing their dreams.
Q&A with Nicole Hilhorst
What is your Favorite part of a wedding?
“Seeing the bride check herself out in the mirror just before heading down the aisle and the cocktail hour. Everyone is happy, the couple is married and it's time to have some fun, I also love the little interactions with guests during this time.”
Did you plan your own wedding?
“Yes, I did all the pre planning and had one of my planners do the day of coordination so I could let go and enjoy the day.”
Best tip for day-of gitters?
“Try to remember why you're there...to marry the love of your life! Nothing else matters.”
What did you want to be when you grew up?
“Early on I wanted to be a doctor due to my obsession with the show ER. After that I wanted to be a florist which I was for many years and still love to play around with flowers.”
Favorite place on Vancouver Island?
“Too hard to choose! It's so beautiful here.”
Coffee or Wine?
“Before noon coffee after wine.”
