Q&A with Christine Dunham

What or Who inspired you to start the "You Had Me At Maui" Brand?

β€œWhen I had Carter, I suddenly turned into a mother on maternity leave and my very busy life shifted to revolving around a newborn who slept 14 hours a day.  It can be pretty lonely and boring at times so I started a new hobby.  I was looking for a hobby that I could do near my baby and didn't need a lot of supplies which was how I started learning macrame.”

Self taught or who introduced you to macrame?

β€œI originally started learning macrame because my mom DM'ed me a photo on instagram of a very cute mini plant hanger and said "you should make this!"  So I youtube it and it turns out it was just like making friendship bracelets as a kid and I was hooked.  I was self taught by youtube and DIY pinterest blogs.”

Early bird or Night Owl?

β€œEarly bird! I wake up at 5 am with Caleb.  He works on his business and I use this time just to relax, have some alone time and workout.  Once Carter goes to bed at night, so do I!”

Favorite Macrame project to date?

β€œMy favorite macrame projects are my keychain and teether set.  It's meant for a mama and her baby.  I love the set because  mamas tend to get overlooked when they welcome a new baby and with my keychain and teether set, the mama gets a small matching keychain gift too.  It's the little things that bring joy.”

Best beach on Maui?

β€œI'm not telling my favorite beach on Maui because I want it to be a secret FOREVER.  Airport Beach is a close second though!”

Congrats Christine, on all your macrame success! I can’t wait to see what you create next!
