INTERVIEW WITH DR CHELSEA:
What did you want to be when you grew up? “I wanted to work for NASA and be an Astronaut! This may or may not still be on my long-term goals list…just saying. #spacenerd”
What 2020 has taught you about your business, or being an entrepreneur in general? “I’d have to say 2020 has definitely taught me many lessons. As for business and being an entrepreneur, it has taught me how resilient we are. How resourceful we can be and how incredibly powerful it is when people come together in community to support each other. Our little corner of the world, in St. John’s, NL has truly been so supportive of each other. People really have made such a huge effort to support local as much as possible and I truly do feel it has made a huge difference in helping small businesses in our community to get through this tough year. 2020 has also taught me the value of slowing down and how important it is to make space and time to dream, goal-set and sit with the thoughts/ideas/visions we want for our businesses. All too often I was finding myself getting caught up in the go-go-go and losing sight of what I really wanted my business to look like, feel like and how I wanted to make an impact in our field and our community. With being forced to close-up shop earlier in the year it really did open up a lot of space to sit with my thoughts and to re-envision how I wanted to share Traditional Chinese Medicine with the world.”
Anything you want to say to “Women In Business”? Or those that aspire to start a business? “You are more capable than you think…don’t forget that! Hone your craft, do what you do best and trust that there are people out there who want/need what you are offering. Stay authentic to who YOU are and that is when things will start to take off. Don’t be afraid to ask for help with the areas of your business that aren’t in your wheelhouse. We all need help sometimes!”
Female Founded Brands Chelsea Loves:
“I feel so lucky to be surrounded by so many entrepreneurs and businesswomen who are rockin’ it in the health and wellness industry here in Newfoundland! These women have all been so supportive of me, my business and have helped me so much on a personal level to work towards my own health goals. “And, I want to send the hugest shout out to the women entrepreneur who has inspired me the most with her sheer passion, creativity, drive and incredible hard work….and that’s you @jamie_boyack. The work you do to help small businesses get off the ground and reach their full potential is so inspiring. You have taken the stereotypical “accountant” role and dropped it on its head. And that is so bad ass! Thank you for being my biggest inspiration and cheerleader. Love you!”
Charities Chelsea Supports:
“There is one that is very near and dear to my heart because it brought us our Earl Boy. He’s a sassy 10-year-old boxer who loves treats and couch snuggles. He literally is the best!
@rescueaboxervancouver is such an amazing organization, helping to adopt out boxers who have been in high-kill shelters down in LA. I honestly don’t know what we would do without our Earl and we have this amazing organization to thank for that!”
