"Creatives with Aloha" featuring Gia Duke of "Get Your Heart On"
Meet Gia Duke. Passionate Humanitarian. Volunteer. Speaker and Author. Life Coach. Workshop & Retreat Leader. Podcaster. Super hugger. Rescue Pup Advocate. Creator and Author of “Get Your Heart On” @giaduke
I met Gia through Instagram and our shared love for Maui and puppy dogs definitely brought us together!
I’m inspired by Gia’s calling to help people and animals, her giving heart and kind spirit are immense. Her willingness to make time to help the less fortunate and invest in other people’s dreams should be motivation for us all!
To top it off, she wrote a kick-ass book, “Get Your Heart On: The How To Guide for People Who Want to Make a Difference”. If you’re currently sitting back but want to contribute more to the world, then this is definitely a must read. (Can purchase on Amazon or at giaduke.com)
Gia emphasizes her #RevolutionSuperLove movement; she’s been creating a community where… “the passion fueled and the kind, the gutsy and the purpose driven, the leaders, creatives, underdogs and the world igniters… come together.”
My particular favorite parts… Heart-work; The New 80/20 Rule; The Fuck It Bucket; and Gia’s “Make It Matter” mentality! You better get reading!
Q&A with Gia Duke
What's your favorite part about being a Author/Podcastor/Speaker?
“Seeing that spark in someone's eye or hearing the passion in their voice that wants to do something to help others and then being able to support them however I can to make it happen. Also having a way to share my heart and tell stories that connect us and introduce people to causes and organizations that are making the world a better place for all of us.”
What inspired you to write "Get your Heart On!"
“I started writing to heal during my moms 10 year memory loss journey. Then I wrote about people who had made a difference in my life, more reflective and inspirational. Eventually, I asked myself, if I was going to publish only one book, what outcome would I hope it would create? And the answer was… for people with big hearts to take action. A book that could help to create more compassion, empathy, and understanding of one another. It’s the book I wished I had years ago and the one I believe would be able to help the most people.”
Favorite place on earth??
“Inside a hug - cheesy - But seriously the best, right?!
I’d also have to say Donner Lake in Truckee, CA. Dancing on a dock over the lake, looking at the mountains and trees, watching the clouds go by with my headphones on and music turned up. 3-2-1 HIT IT!”
Cats or Dogs?
“Rescue Dogs ALL THE WAY! So many shelter animals are in desperate need of a loving forever family. Please consider adopting :)”
Favorite way to volunteer or give back to your community?
“I love supporting local businesses like The Soap Box Cafe or Za Pizza in San Francisco and getting to know the people who started them and work there. I love the community it creates and neighborhood vibe. My other favorite way to give back is by supporting animal rescue organizations.”
