LIZ ADAMS INTERVIEW:
What did you want to be when you grew up? “I have always wanted to be a hairdresser! My mom was a hairdresser and I loved the smell of perms and hairspray!”
What 2020 has taught you about your business, or being an entrepreneur in general? “It taught me to truly not sweat the small stuff....or the big stuff. When you are ordered to shut down and you don't know when you are going to open again, you really have to trust the powers that be and know you are going to survive no matter what!”
What do you want to tell “Women In Business”? Or those who aspire to start a business? “I would say to those who want to start a business, do your research! Find other women entrepreneurs, ask questions and listen. There are so many women out there willing to help and impart their knowledge.”
Female Founded Brands Liz Loves:
· Tugwell Creek Honey Farm and Meadery (@tugwellcreek | www.tugwellcreekfarm.com) – “We help adventurous connoisseurs rediscover an ancient libation with hand crafted meads made from our own Wildflower Honey. Our carefully tended beehives are put out to forage the wild flowers in hills behind Sooke for the purest honey.”
· Sea Flora Skincare (@seafloraskincare | www.seafloraskinscare.com) – “Our philosophy is ‘Sea-to-Spa’, much like the farm-to-plate movement. We source as many local ingredients possible, including all seaweeds, ocean muds, clays, and marine minerals. Located on Vancouver Island, we are one of the largest licensed seaweed harvesting companies in British Columbia.”
Charities Liz Supports:
· Victoria Women’s Transition House – providing support and info for women who are either experiencing abuse or have experienced abuse in the past. | www.transitionhouse.net
· Wear2Start – a volunteer driven non-profit society that provides a personalized wardrobe experience for all self-identified women as they take the net step in their lives. @wear2start.victoria | www.wear2start.com
“Liz has been in the beauty and wellness business for over three decades. You can say that hairdressing is in her blood as she comes from a family of hairstylists. With her sister owning a successful salon in Toronto and her mother being a former hairstylist. Being a salon owner in three different provinces starting out in Winnipeg, Manitoba, then Ontario and now in BC, she loves to pass on her vast experience as a stylist and loves nothing more then mentoring young stylists.”
