Essence of Artist

Life is the art of drawing without an eraser.
— John Gardner

My first "Creative with Aloha" is close to my heart, the late, John Francis Booth. My grandfather, aka Grandpa Rawhide.

Father. Husband. Brother. Leading Aircraftsman in WWII. Auctioneer. Descended from a long line of great horsemen. Left-handed until forced to switch. Amazing story teller and lover of jokes. Hard worker. And self-taught artist in multiple modalities.

I never got to officially meet my Grandpa Rawhide, my arrival was unfortunately three years too late. But our home was filled with some of Grandpa's projects and creations and I always wonder if my interest in creative businesses comes from him! He would have had an off the chart Etsy Shop nowadays, that’s for sure.

Rawhide always had a project on the go, whether it was carpentry, leather stamping, calligraphy, painting watercolors, drawing and sketching, hooking wool rugs, restoring buggies and democrats, and collecting classic cars.

He was the essence of ARTIST! His love for horses and riding explains his nature, and his talent of creating with his hands was his gift!

Big cheers to Grandpa Rawhide today! And some added inspiration for all of us to pursue our creativity, as it often brings out the very best in us!
